Introvert/Extrovert...which are you?

Saturday, February 13, 2010

For the longest time I longed to be categorized as an extrovert.  But the older I get the more comfortable I get in my own skin.  I'll admit.  I am an introvert.

I know, I know.  There are those of you that have met me and are probably trying to disagree with my statement and there are those of you who absolutely know that what I admitted is the truth.  In fact, every Myers-Briggs I have ever taken has me pegged in the middle, with the pendulum swaying to the introvert side.  I was a very confused kid...lol!

I always wanted to be extroverted.  They seem like the life of the party.  Ever since I got married, I realized why people think I am really an extrovert.  My husband is a TRUE introvert.  He needs a good couple of hours of down time to recuperate from social activity.  I, on the other hand, am the one that always wants to do things and see people.  But I think I have come to realize that it's our days that factor in.  Alex talks all day long.  I, on the other hand, don't talk as much.  So less energy expended means I have more energy to spend with others.

One perfect clue that I am an introvert...without my husband home, I don't really talk or interact with anyone unless I have to.  The more time by myself the better.  I'd even go to a movie by myself and not bat an eye.

Would you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?  I'm so curious...please share:)

A friend posted this great article pertaining to Introverts.  Apparently, WE are in the minority...

I am VERY much an extrovert, hugely extroverted, lol. I don't even have to take a test to know that I am one. I love people, I love meeting new people and making new friends, I hate being alone, so yeah, definitely no introvert here. My husband on the other hand is definitely an introvert, but has the capability of being an extrovert.

I took the test with the same results as you- and same history- i so wanted to be at ease-and make others feel at ease being around people ALL the time. But have since found that I'm SOOOO much happier with just myself or just charlie or just one or two good friends. I like being introverted. It's just taken me a while to get here and realize it.

Like Amanda said - just family or one couple or one or two friends - that's the way we usually like it over here. Even weeks where I get out of the house a lot, it's a lot of going to the YMCA or walk around the mall with just my family. John was even a little nervous when we got married that he was too introverted, but thankfully he doesn't mind being around me all the time! :)

I usually score 60 introvert... 40 extrovert. one time i was a smidgen on the extrovert side.

but the longer i live... and the more i come to know myself... i'm definitely an introvert.

i am easily exhausted by people.

But at the same time... I don't like being alone. I want someone around all the time pretty much. But someone that is close to me..

Ahhh...so good to know there are other introverts out there:)

I could spend every waking hour with my husband and be pretty much ok...oh wait...I already do:)

But I also know that I could never live along, because I am way too much of a hermit:)

Anna...I love extroverts too; being around people like you bring out my inner extrovert:)
