Maine to Vermont

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Days have been filled with sleep, national parks, food and gorgeous scenery.  Other than the one time Alex and I were down in Cannon Falls at the peak of fall I have never seen such beautiful fall colors in my life.  Preface, these are better than anything MN can produce, God did quite a work when He placed the trees in this area years ago.

Dunkin donuts fueled us yesterday morning…their pumpkin donut holes were amazing!  The pictures I will post do not do the area justice as our first day in Maine was overcast and rainy, perfect for a trek up to Acadia National Park where we drove the scenic route.  It was quite the drive but I don’t mind road trips if the scenery is new  to me and gorgeous and we headed up the coastal route, which was scenic indeed!

Today after waking refreshed we jumped in our rental car and headed to the wharf for fresh Maine lobster.  I have eaten lobster before but not like this and believe me, fresh Lobster caught that morning is so much better than anything we can get in the Midwest.  It was also Alex’s first time experiencing the yumminess.  Maybe by the end of the trip he will enjoy seafood more?!?

After our bellies were full we headed across Maine, then New Hampshire, and then into Vermont through the White Mountain National Forest.  We’re staying in Burlington and I’m looking forward to our itinerary tomorrow…you’ll have to wait and see what’s in store!

Ahh yes, good old Maine - where in Maine did you stop? We went to Acadia once when we lived there. Remember, we lived there for the first 2 and a half years of our marriage.

Yep, good old Portland - we lived in Boothbay Harbor, about an hour from Portland - definitely went there a lot since it was the only mall close.
